The Beenleigh Yatala Chamber of Commerce Committee is a team of dedicated volunteers who drive economic growth by helping members achieve business success.

Karen Murphy - President

Karen joins the Executive Board of the Beenleigh Yatala Chamber of Commerce as President for 2017/18, after previously serving as a Committee Member. Over the last nine years Karen has worked in the real estate industry where she has mastered the skills required for a successful outcome.Currently, she is a valued member of local boutique agency, Vision Property Group.

Karen has a passion for helping others and works directly with Quota International of Beenleigh, the Scripture Union Chaplaincy Program and Standing Tall Against Abusive Relationships (STAAR) among others. As a result, Karen was awarded Volunteer of the Year by Quota International and Wonderful Waterford Womens Award in recognition of community service by Shannon Fentiman MP.

Karen looks forward to working with local businesses as a part of the Beenleigh Yatala Chamber of Commerce.

Aydan Marriott - Vice President

Business Owner, Business and Community Advocate. Aydan Promotes Community and Economic Growth Locally.

Aydan has an extensive range of experience in marketing and management and currently developing business within Beenleigh Region.

Leanne Taylor - Secretary

Leanne has a background in office management and accounting within small to medium sized law firms, she has first hand knowledge of the issues that face many businesses. With experience across a broad spectrum of essential business elements such as HR, accounting, cash flow, advertising/marketing, and client retention (to name just a few) during her 30 years of working in the legal industry, Leanne offers a practical / no fuss approach to most issues. 

As a Migration Agent with Hall Payne Lawyers who lives and works in the local area, Leanne was keen to get involved with the Board to be at the forefront of an organization that was focused on improvement in the local area and creating a thriving, expanding and desirable hub for families, businesses, tourists and investors alike.

Valerie O'Neill - Treasurer

As a relative newcomer to the area (only 10 years) Valerie set up her bookkeeping practice AbsolutelyAdmin to bring her 30 years’ experience in corporate finance and management accounting areas to small business of the area she has come to love and appreciate. Firmly believing that business growth is essential for stability in our society, Valerie contributes to the community to help business people understand that simple disciplines can build foundations for strong growth for all. Our community must re-create itself in the present environment to foster that growth. Valerie is married, has two adult daughters and four grand-children – who need the present environment to build their futures.

Heather Christensen - Junior Chamber

Semi Retired Business Owner/Manager of KC Farm Equipment with 22 years of experience in all aspects of business management, planning, financial control and implementation of business structures and Quality Assurance.

 Was a Finalist in  the Telstra Business Woman of the Year Award 1996 , received  Forde Queenslander Award in 2010, Albert Community Service Award in 2014 and the Logan City Council Citizen of the Year 2016.

 Member of Quota for 25 years and Eisteddfod Coordinator 10 years and involved in community service groups like Lifeline, Marriage Guidance since leaving school.

 Her passion for young people has led her to mentor high school students with Training for Life Programs through the JQ (Junior Quota) clubs and the JBYCC (Beenleigh Yatala Junior Chamber of Commerce)

Kerrie Saverin - Committee Member

A local of the area, Kerrie has natural passion for the 4207 community and particularly small business. Her history with the area has given her valuable insights and contacts. As a Cane Queen charity entrant and previous small business owner Kerrie hopes to bring her knowledge and experience to help the chamber thrive.

Kerrie was the owner of a franchise coffee chain and in 2011 was a finalist in the James Fitzgerald Franchisee of the Year Award and winner of the Australian and New Zealand Excellence in Marketing for introducing marketing concepts to the franchise during the GFC that saw her business continue to increase by over 10 per cent in revenue and by 15 per cent in new and repeat customers.

It is this experience in business management and marketing that she hopes to pass on to other business owners.

Mark Ellis - Committee Member

Mark is a local businessman who owns a variety of companies including Gatecrash Security, and Crime & Trauma Cleaning. Mark is a former Qld Police Detective, having served at Beenleigh station, as well as the Armed Robbery Squad, Drug Squad, and Major Fraud Investigation Unit.

Mark is passionate about the local community, and is a long serving board member at Club Beenleigh, 6 years as the Vice President. Mark has previously been the President of the Beenleigh Tennis Club, a founding board member of the Beenleigh Cricket Club, and an organizing committee member of the City of Logan Relay for Life.

Mark is happily married, and the proud father of two wonderful children. Mark is a qualified Justice of the Peace, and looks forward to assisting the business members of Beenleigh/Yatala.

Michael Matthews- Committee Member

Venue Coordinator of the Beenleigh Events Center, Michael is responsible for managing and coordinating functions, catering and technical priorities for customers ranging from meetings of 5 to large banquets up to 400 and everything in between. The position is also responsible for the fiscal management and administrative priorities of the venue. The role works closely with other coordinators in the organisations program, Logan Entertainment Centre and Community Venues, and, at times required to assist in delivering large events at the other venues.  Michael is really looking forward to working with other committee members to help small business flourish. 

Shane Drew - Committee Member

Drew’s Sign It Pty Ltd is a family owned and operated business. Managing director, Shane Drew has been working in the industry for over 25 years and launched the family business in 1996 at Yatala, before moving to Logan City. Originally a father and son enterprise, it grew to employ his mother, wife, sister, son and daughter over the years.

Shane also donates his time, energy and resources to several Logan based community groups and is a sponsor of 101fm community radio in Logan City. His underlying belief is that if he expects community support, then the community should also expect him to support the community.

Tim Ebbstein - Committee Member

Tim has always had a passion for the local community and supporting small business. He is the current state manager for De Bortoli Wines and manages a team of 28 dedicated staff including Sales Team, Administration, Distribution & Warehousing. Servicing and developing business across Queensland via several service channels involving Major Liquor Wholesalers, Supermarket Liquor, Independent Buying Groups, National Hotel Groups and other varied licensed resellers. New Business, Marketing, Sponsorship and Innovation is key to this position.
